The Branch holds qualification certification (grade A) for environmental impact assessment issued by State Environmental Protection Administration, qualification certification for environmental control engineering design and qualification certification for environmental engineering construction both issued by Shaanxi Environmental Protection Administration, qualification certification for compilation of water and soil conservation plan for development construction project issued by Shaanxi Water Resource Conservation Administration and qualification certification for coal mine production capability evaluation issued by Shaanxi Coal Administration. Four study majors are set up in environmental impact assessment, environmental control engineering, compilation of water and soil conservation plan and coal mine production capacity evaluation .

The Branch has consecutively undertaken about 200 projects about consultation and research on environmental impact assessment since 1986.These projects have been concerned in coal industry, electrical power, communication, construction materials, petroleum, natural gas, city utility engineering, regional development and other industries in 20 provinces and cities, of which ''groundwater prediction method for environmental assessment in north coal mining area'' was awarded ministerial silver prize for science and technology progress, ''environmental assessment of Changbei exploration well of Shell's China Petroleum Corporation'' was awarded a bronze provincial prize for excellent consultation report. Magnetized fluorine reducer used for high fluorine water treatment in Weibei has obtained national patent for new and practical products. In addition, the Branch has undertaken various pollution control engineering projects such as noise control in mining areas, fire prevention and extinguishing in spoil dumps, waste water from paper mill, boiler smog dust and furnace ash.
